Math's educational resources in their historical-cultural context
One of the main goals of the HM-Group is research on History of Mathematics as a tool in Mathematical Education. This is a multifaceted approach carried out by several members of our research group. In the framework of a PhD-project we wish to promote the construction of educational resources in an ethno-mathematical perspective. We believe it is important to promote the teachers’ taste for research on ancient ideas and practices of their cultural environment, thereby fostering the discovery of new ways to build educational resources. Therefore we collaborate with Portuguese and Spanish teachers in schools on the northern border of our country, and use the common historical heritage and its educational potential as impulses for improving the knowledge about the cultural patrimony of our countries.
